A Lunar Year ~ Quickening Moon

Merry Meet,

As the Quickening Moon is approaching I feel the pull to revamp my B.o.S entry and bring it to life once more.  I've covered three pages on word.doc so I may stop there for now and expand the entry the next time round the wheel.  Check here for a basic format of a Full Moon ritual.

Quickening Moon
A Lunar Year

Full “Quickening” Moon

The Quickening Moon occurs in February and is a time of silent storms with frosty ice and snow which blankets the Earth; underneath allowing Her to rest and regenerate, allowing her to renew Her energy for the season before Her.  This is the time to make plans for the future. We can dream and hope, and set goals for ourselves. Accept responsibility for mistakes we've made in the past, and move on.  It’s important for us to renew our energy also, which means this is a fabulous time to kick back and relax, a time out.  Plan our spiritual journey ahead and find out where we are going, we need to be ready.  Go deep within yourself and take that inner journey.  Pregnant animals, due in the spring, begin to feel the quickening of their unborn young. The earth itself is quickening, as seeds and bulbs far beneath the soil begin their journey towards the light.

The wondrous Storm Moon’s energy
To open up my psychic eyes
That I may cut through all disguise
And see all things with clearest view
Bring its time of rest now, too
So that my strength’s renewed with ease
As I will, so mote it be”

Seeds of Change

Items required:
    A violet candle
    Thoughts of your goals

Announce your intentions to the Moon (Career, school, family time, personal growth etc); light the candle and say something like:

“As the Earth wears a cocoon of white
In icy splendour Snow Moon, you guard the night
Let me make changes, let me be reborn
Now I plan the seed of magic; I am transformed”

Celebration Activities

Have a slumber party, indoor camp-out or pyjama party

Make coupons for divination readings, throw them in a hat or bag and have people pick one out.  For those who don’t like readings, have backup options for foot rubs, shoulder massage and any other forms of “relaxation”

Play “pass the dream catcher”.  Form a circle and start with someone holding the dream catcher.  The person holding the catcher tells a short fairy-tale, ghost story or bedtime story.  Pass the catcher around until everyone’s had a turn

Have a lullaby or short fairy-tale story writing contest.  The best one wins a small prize

Give everyone at your party or gathering a small piece of charged citrine for pleasant dreams
