Amazon has become my virtual hangout, as soon as a bargain pops up from my books wish list - I'm on it like a fly to manure lol. This month I have collected a fair few goodies. I love used books, they are already broken in, in most cases the owners take really good care of their belongings. I think it's a lovely thought to pass on what you've learned about, and passing on your books is one way to do it. On the other hand, if you're like me, I hang on to all of my books. One of my lifetime goals is to one day have a room in my house as a personal private library.
The Essential 21st Century Guide to Herbs - by Rosie Atkins
I originally loaned this book from the local library, and I loved it so much that right there and then I knew I had to buy it for myself. Brand new, this book is £25, Amazon had it for £4 used. The reason I purchased this book is for the detailed information, every page has herb pictures, dosages for each way to prepare them, how to grow them and look after them. I believe in some areas they cover the drying process as well.
Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs - Scott Cunningham
I can't begin to tell you how long this book has been on my wish list, and due to the fact I buy a lot of books, I can't afford to buy them all new, this book is on the pricey side if purchased new (£15.50). I managed to get it for £5.95 new from an Amazon user. The thing I love about this book is having your own "Book of Herbs", associations, correspondences and substitutions all in one place.
Astral Projection - Denning & Phillips
I haven't opened this book yet (I know, naughty Shiann!) but I nabbed it ready for when this topic arrives in my Year & a Day study. I'd originally had a different book on this subject added to my wish list, but this one was more popular via reviews and cheaper at £2.89 used (£12.50 new).
Fragrant Magic - Cassandra Eason
The first time I bought this book it was for a sabbat gift for +AcanthaRayne, and I took a sneaky peak and loved it straight away. It soon found it's way to my wish list, and I think it was only there for about 10 weeks. Only £8 new but I managed to find it for £1.38 new from an Amazon user. Bargain!
Everyday Magic - Dorothy Morrison
Anyone who reads my blog will know that my favourite witchy author is Dorothy Morrison. After all these years of being the proud owner of The Craft and only that book I felt that enough was enough, I needed more of her books. My last purchase of DM books was for Everyday Moon Magic - also awesome BTW! Everyday Magic was the first in the Everyday series, and although my nose has found it's way into the Moon Magic book more often, this above is also a fabulous read! I think it's one of the original covers too, as the newer edition has a brown cover. £9.50 new, I managed to grab it for £2.99 used.
Everyday Sun Magic - Dorothy Morrison
Another book to add to the Everyday collection, this particular book I found very interesting. Although the celebration of the Sun throughout the Wheel of the Year in embedded deeply within the details of each Sabbat, I've found that not many witches talk about working with the Sun energy on a daily basis. I've felt magnetic pull from the Sun these last 4 weeks or so, to really get back in touch with it's energies, to re-align! Another bargain, £7.50 new but I found a luck bargain at £4.02 new from an Amazon user.
Bud, Blossom & Leaf - Dorothy Morrison
And finally, last but definitely not least, one more DM book to add to my ever-growing collection. This is a wonderful book, it's plant magic in beautiful wording. Spells to empower every herb in your garden or window box, whether it be to plant it, to help it grow, or to take a harvest. I paid £5.70 used, option for Amazon user at £17.99 new.
I'm really chuffed with my finds, why not get on Amazon and see what bargains you can pick up for pennies?
